Hey!
My name is Claire,
and I’m a photographer.
Although I'm sure you'd love to read about how I love to
take long walks on the beaches in Bahrain, but my photography is what brought you here.
I’ve been photographing for as long as I can remember, even before I had a camera.
I remember when I was young, I used to sit quietly in a corner of
my grandmothers house with a photo album in my lap, going through
all her old family albums, looking at each and every photo over and over again.
I would ask my family, “who is this and what were you doing and what was it like?”.
Photos of generations long gone are something that really speak to me.
Sitting with an elder, and looking at a portrait of them that was taken over 70 years ago,
is so incredible. There’s so much history in that image, those eyes. So many stories can
come from one photo. Looking back at old photos of friendships, family reunions,
kids playing in the garden, a mother cradling her baby.
Even now, when I’m given the opportunity to go through old photography prints,
to touch a print from nearly a century ago, I genuinely get tears in my eyes.
It amazes me how one simple photo can hold so much emotion and history.
And then to hear the stories behind the photos, my gosh, that’s just priceless.
I am in love with memories. After all, it’s who we are. It’s what shaped us. It’s our essence.
It teaches us to be kinder, more patient, and to be more adventurous and braver.
Documenting life is such a gift.
It’s so important to be in photos.
For your children, and your children’s children, for them to tell stories about
their heritage and know where they came from.
Let your family, your children, and loved ones, have photos of you that they will cherish forever.
We're all stories in the end...
Let’s document a new chapter now!
And for those who really want to know more about me…
I was born and bred in South Africa and even though I call Bahrain home now,
South Africa will always be where my heart and soul belong.
I’m blessed to have two amazing children, who keep me entertained when I’m not taking photos.
I love the outdoors, I crave it.
I love camping, climbing mountains, exploring and digging my feet in the sand.
I can’t decide which I love more; sunrise or sunsets.
My favourite time of day is dawn, to witness the soft light of a new day and the quietness of the land.
I love rain! When I smell freshly rained earth, I feel a sense of grounding, a sense of complete serenity.
I’m a Capricorn, so I’m a bit hard headed and a stickler for the rules.
I believe in manners, good morals and being an honest person.
I’m hard on myself, as we all can be sometimes, but with age am trying to let go more.
I want to make people happy, and I don’t see that as a bad thing. It makes me happy when others are happy.
But I’m actually really shy when I first meet people.
Once we know each other though, I talk a lot and will treat you like family.
I’m human.
I’m far from perfect.
I have dreams and aspirations.
I laugh.
I cry.
I love.
